Bucknell University West Housing
Bucknell University’s campus is divided by the route 15 highway and as a result the university has a strong main campus on the East side and a under utilized space on the West side. Our team was tasked with giving new life and identity to West campus through student housing. This project had a strict timeline, needed to provide more beds than the current condition, used phase construction and incorporated sustainable practices. The team chose to make this a modular building complex to maximize offsite construction while utilizing geothermal cooling as well as striving for LEED Silver accreditation. Four buildings frame the site offering 70 beds and 3 lounge spaces per building. Inside the perimeter is a plaza space with programmed amenities like fire pits and an amphitheater. The façade captures the Georgian style seen all over main campus with the Bucknell red brick and traditional windows. My responsibilities on this project started at the beginning of Schematic Design and continued on into the issuance of Construction Documents. Working with the Design Lead and clients to make multiple designs as well as with our consultants to ensure a coordinated design, including with the modular consultant to ensure proper construction.
